AGM and Volunteer Appreciation

WODS Board of Directors is pleased to announce that this years annual general meeting (AGM) will take place Saturday January 9th at Budd Park .  Similar to previous years, we will be combining the AGM with a Volunteer Appreciation Event.

The purpose of the AGM is for the Board of Directors to report directly to you, the membership, to let you know what we have been doing over the year and what we hope to accomplish in the future. It's also your chance to provide your feedback and suggestions directly to us. A lot of events have taken place over the last year and this is an opportunity for everyone to discuss them (Kiwanis, WODS hosting Regionals, league expansion, etc.).

Further, and most importantly, it's the time for electing the new Board of Directors for the coming year. The AGM will take place from 7-9pm. All WODS members are welcome to attend the meeting. If you played in any WODS league in 2009 you are a WODS member.

The election of board members is an important event of which every WODS member should be aware. WODS is a volunteer, non-profit organization.  Directors are not paid. They volunteer their time and effort to support disc sports in Waterloo Region. They are people with an interest for ultimate and/or disc golf and who wish to contribute back to those sports and the organization that has given them such enjoyment over the years. WODS needs more people to take such an interest and be willing to act as Board members. If you want to give back to WODS and are interested in running for a Board position in 2010, please indicate your interest on the registration form found on the WODS website.

Along with the exciting AGM event, the Board of Directors would like to take the opportunity, while everyone is gathered together to thank the individuals who volunteer their time to make this such a successful year for WODS. WODS has always been fortunate to enjoy the help of members who volunteer their time to WODS events by acting as team captains in our many
leagues, helping with our MayDay and Oktoberfest tournaments and contribute to skill development. We would like to acknowledge that help by inviting all volunteers to join us for a special "thank you". WODS will provide snack foods and drinks throughout the evening. Come out for some fun and to let WODS thank you for your help this year. This event is open to all WODS members, but we particularly hope that winter, summer and fall league captains will attend, as well as those members who contributed to our tournaments.

In addition to the fun activities outlined above, the WODS Board of Directors has decided that volunteers and members would appreciate some playing time following all of the exchange of information, elections, and socializing. Therefore, we have rented some indoor field space at Budd Park for a pickup game following the AGM and Volunteer Appreciation Party. Field space has been booked from 9-11pm. Remember to bring your cleats/running shoes.

Any members who plan to attend the Annual General Meeting / Volunteer Appreciation are asked to complete the RSVP form to help us prepare for the appropriate numbers.
