Co-Ed Touring

I am just throwing this out there (forehand flick of course) because I believe we need to start some discussion on it. As of right now we have a lot of interest developing in a men's and women's touring team out of KW. This is a good development as it will give people options and only further develop the sport, however it seems it is coming at the cost of the Co-ed touring teams. As of right now I do not know of ANY co-ed touring being planned for the summer. It would be a shame to see the WODS touring teams Liquid and Crisis both fall by the wayside. And furthermore I believe there is enough interest from players who either a) don't want to (or can't) commit to the mens/ladies teams practices and tourneys b) prefer the co-ed game, want to play with a significant other etc or c) will not make the roster for the mens/ladies teams and then will be looking for another team to play on.

I would like to get the discussion going and hopefully get something started. As of right now I will likely be too busy between now and July 1st to take on the responsibilty of putting together a team, however I am looking to play and practice, and would certainly be able to assist in captaining a team. It would be nice if we could still have at least one co-ed team in the area that is solid enough to go to Nationals, and if there is enough interest we could form two teams and run practices together on the same night.

I agree, this is important.

I agree, this is important. The only co-ed team I know that is planning on going to Nats is MuD. There is definitely room for another co-ed team in the area considering we had FOUR teams from KW/Guelph at Regionals last year.

Just wondering...

Just wondering who MuD is?

I think MuD is a guelph

I think MuD is a guelph Co-ed team.

MYself personally, I'd rather play Co-ed myself, but it looks like that Co-ed is slowly dying.  I've always said, the Co-ed and Mens/Women's season aren't mutually exclusive, you could easily play both (though not have the money/time/resources to do so).

This definitely needs to

This definitely needs to happen. Glad to see that WODS is getting a list of interested people together. G, I'm a bit surprised that you think co-ed is slowly dying when last season was such a good one in so many ways. Sure, having an open team start up will pull top players, but there's plenty of talent remaining on the co-ed side.
