WODS Volunteer Program

Attention WODS members:

WODS wants your help! Your Board of Directors has some high goals for the organization. We are hoping that some of you will be willing to volunteer your time and/or expertise from time to time to help us achieve these goals. To that end, we have instituted our new Volunteer Program, which will allow our members to participate in implementing some key strategies.

We expect the following WODS programs to benefit most from volunteer help:

  • High School Program -- Our High School Director is seeking high school teachers to help encourage long-term sustainable interest in ultimate by establishing school ultimate clubs for friendly matches among themselves. Non-teachers are also wanted to help run instructional clinics for school clubs and phys-ed classes.
  • Disc Golf -- Our Disc Golf Director is looking for UofW and WLU students to help establish a university disc golf club to help promote this sport and support the eventual construction of a disc golf course locally.
  • Women's Ultimate -- OurĀ Women's Ultimate Director seeks experienced women ultimate players to run or assist with women's clinics through the summer season. The clinics will be geared toward the promotion of the sport among women through skills development in an encouraging environment.
  • Tournaments -- Our Tournaments Director will need help during our spring Start-Up ultimate tournament and our popular Oktoberfest tourney. Volunteers will help with set up and tear down, marking the fields, placing/collecting cones, hauling food, water, tents, merchandise, collecting scores, keeping the games on time, and general running around.
  • Website -- Our technical team seeks volunteers with skills in PHP, mySQL and HTML/CSS to help update wods.ca.

To donate some time, knowledge or energy to any of these programs, please contact our Communications Director for more information. As always with WODS, the emphasis in the Volunteer Program will be on fun. And time commitment will be whatever you are willing and able to provide. Your help will go a long way toward making WODS better.

So give the idea some thought. We hope to hear from many interested WODS members.
