Winter League Registration Details

Holy Kaboly!

Nine teams have registered to play winter league (already!).  'Read more' for details.

These teams have been created in LeagueRunner and captains are welcome to begin filling out the roster.

Note: Remember that payment must be received by January 6th to maintain your spot in the league.

ComDev / Winter League Details

On December 3rd, 2008 Steve Chris says:

Hey all.  With Winter League only a month and a half away, things are really starting to get exciting.

Here are some new details on the ComDev Dome:

Many of you will recall that we had some concerns about the dust situation at ComDev last year. We understood, based on how new the dome was, that there were bound to be some growing pains. However, I am happy to let you know that during the off-season:

  • The entire turf surface and all of the rubber pellets were removed from the dome
  • The entire dome, lights, floors, ventilation system, etc. were extensively washed down
  • New turf and rubber pellets were installed (will eliminate the dust issue)
  • The clubhouse has been completed (ie. better restroom facilities)
  • The parking lot has been paved

I am confident you will find the dome has undergone significant improvements over the past year and the level of service you can expect has improved.

Here are a few new items and rules for the dome:

  • Cleats are now permitted in the dome (excluding metal spikes)
  • Only water is permitted on the field surface - no sports drinks
  • Please bring reusable bottles to the dome - recycling will be available for recyclable bottles
  • No more muddy parking lots (yea!!!)

Update (December 23rd)

On December 23rd, 2008 Laura Seaman says:

Though there were a number of early registrations for the winter league.  Only 11 teams have registered for the upcoming league.  I will keep the form up in hopes of a twelfth team registering.

I hope that we will be able to cancel the fourth (practice) field.  If there are any additional teams that ask to sign up after a (hopefully) twelfth team, they will only be allowed to join the league if there is interest from a even number of teams and we are able to secure the field space.

Hello and welcome to 2009 WODS Winter League Season:

1. Payment

I've finalized payment details with all of the captains except Sean Kellett (Disc Pigs).  Sean - Please send me an email to discuss.

2. Schedule

I've generated the schedule for the first week in LeagueRunner.  Please note that by going with the ladder system, the schedule will be generated by a computer program.  If captains notice that teams are only getting late games or some other discrepancy, please let me know.  Since there won't be a dust field this year, field allocations shouldn't be an issue but if captains notice something, please let me know.

Once we've started the league, I'll generate multiple weeks of the schedule in advance but until we sort ourselves out, I don't want to get ahead of the game too much.

Please let me know if there is anything that I have missed.
