DisKRAZE Anniversary

The Ontario Disc Sports Association (ODSA) is seeking input from member clubs and others to commemorate three decades of organized disc sports in Ontario which will be compiled in an on-line anniversary issue of disKRAZE.

Our goal is to paint a picture of growth in those areas where member organizations exist as well as those areas from which we’re hoping to gain members. Currently ODSA has 21 member clubs—16 Ultimate Leagues and 5 Disc Golf courses. What we would like from these groups is an historical perspective: Who started it all? What year? Did someone move into your area from elsewhere to “seed” the disc scene? How has your group or its members fared at Nationals or other major events. What players and/or teams have gone on to glory? How many people did you start with and what are your numbers now? How many fields do you utilize? What are your future plans? Are there any programs in place to educate the players of tomorrow? Any classic moments or funny anecdotes? Send us your early logos as well as your current ones. Basically, and most importantly, just tell us your story—who, what, where, when?

As an incentive to clubs and individuals to gather and submit information, ODSA will pay $50/story and $10/photo (for any photo that we use we’ll also need to know photographer, place and subject).

We’re hoping to receive these stories and materials by the end of January and publish the commemorative issue online by end of March. In addition, if you aren’t the type to be satisfied with just an online version, there will be an option to order a custom-printed hard copy for a fee that has yet to be determined. Revenue from this project will go directly back into ODSA promotional programs. Start talking to your membership about its history and best stories now!
