Now that it is officially offseason (unless someone can point me in a direction of a local tournament coming up) It's time to start studying up for next summer.
Here's a rules quiz someone posted online.

I only got 15/16. #6 was incorrect. There's a few others that the wording could be improved.
Post scores (and no cheating!)

11/16
I only got 11/16 right. But I guess that's not too bad considering that most of the questions are specifclly designed to trick you or exploit some Higy-esque loophole.
Don't read below this if you haven't taken the quiz yet (*SPOILERS!*)
I got numbers 1, 6, 11, 13 and 16 wrong.
I don't agree with the answer for number 11. I can call travel whenever I feel like it. I think if you've got time to fake a throw, then make another throw, you have time to slow down. Therefore, if I think you shouldn't have taken that many steps without slowing down, I can call a travel. The question really needs more information.
I also think number 6 is a bit much for a scenario. The rules say that you can't have anything (bookbags, etc.) within 3 meters of the playing field. My first instinct was to go for incomplete pass, but the "opponent's bookbag" and the 2 meter slide thing set me up to think it was more than it was.
As for number 1, what happens if someone contests a pick? Anyhing different? Does the reciever retain possession? Or does it still go back to the thrower?
For number 13, I guess I got my definition of a dead disc mixed up with something else. I figured it was just a disc that was down. Apparently not...
And number 16 is the one I got wrong that I really should have gotten right. I answered the way that most people play, rather than the real answer.
12/16
I only got 12 right. Seems we are all stumped by #6.
Darren, re: #11.... the point is, if you can release the disc before your third ground contact, you are not required to slow down at all. You are required to do ONE of TWO things..... EITHER you come to a stop as soon as possible, OR you release the disc before the third ground contact. You are not required to do both.
Thus, you are only required to "slow down" as soon as possible if you do not throw again before the third ground contact.
In Darren's defense, the
In Darren's defense, the question said 'third step' which is incorrect and if someone took 3 steps then it is a travel. (3 ground contacts = 2 steps)
As for #6 I'm still not convinced. The way the rules are worded, once you have control of the disc you have posession. If you drop it due to ground contact then possesion is negated but the way the question is worded makes it seems like this is not the case.
14/16
6 is a bugger. I didn't think that the bag constituted the "ground".
15 was my interpretation of the spirit of the question.
Ah but you should never call
Ah but you should never call foul on yourself. You may have fouled the opposing player but he/she may not want to call the foul (eg You're marking and you foul the thrower but they have a wide open cut).
The Etiquette? section says that you should inform the opposing player that you fouled them in order for them to call it (if they wish).
As for #6, the relevant rules:
O. Possession of the disc: Sustained contact with, and control of, a non-spinning disc.
1. Catching a pass is equivalent to establishing possession of that pass.
2. Loss of possession due to ground contact related to a catch negates that player’s possession up to that point.
So from that I think the outcome is debateable. I can see it both ways.
12/16
Didn't get 1, 9, 11 and 13.
I seriously didn't know you could contest a pick. I've seen arguments over picks, but never a contested pick.
With 9, well, I guess I always pause after "stalling" and before "one" but it probably isn't a full second. From now on I'm making it all one word: "stallingone."
11 is ridiculous. I'd like to see someone actually make a fake and then a throw within 3 ground contacts "while running at high speed." I don't think its possible without looking like an idiot. If it comes up I'll call travel, and if the guy contests I'll know he did the quiz too.
As for 13, I guess I'm in the same boat as Darren. Must be a New Brunswick thing.
I don't see why you're all fussy about 6. If you drop the disc as a result of contact with something on the ground, its the same as contact with the ground, hence its a turnover.
States of the Disc
There are 3 defined states of the disc.
In play-self explanatory
Live-the offence must set a pivot and tap the disc to the ground to put the disc into play (Eg. Someone throws a brick and you're walking it to the brick mark). The disc is still subject to a turnover if you drop/throw it away.
Dead-someone calls a foul/travel etc and play stops. Many times this requires the disc to come back to the thrower, hence why the disc is not subject to a turnover.
Ok, that makes sense. I was
Ok, that makes sense. I was confusing "dead" and "down." That's why you're the Rule Nazi and I'm definitely not a challenger for your title. I'm not big on "book learning" when it comes to rules.
14
i messed up the first one haha. legal to call a pick??

Missed 1 and 9. I've contested picks in the past, but the wording I used was "You're kidding me" not "Contest". Didn't seem to change anything...
