I think co-ed is most likely to get expanded, as there are more teams that want to play. And a number of them ought to be pretty good this year given that it's a Worlds qualifier
I think there just might be enough old farts in Waterloo to put a masters team together... although there are a few who would never admit their age ;-)
It would need to be a dual-gender team to get the requisite numbers... but I think that the 'uglyness' of our guys would negate any positive gains from our women.
From what I've heard so far, and what I speculate about halifax, I can't see Atlantic Canadausing any of those wildcards, given the opportunity. Spawn (the Fredericton based co-ed team that beat liquid at Nationals last year) will definately be going. A Moncton-Saint John compilation co-ed team called the "Beaver Liquors" will also be making a run at it this year, and I Imagine they'll do okay. Now is where I start speculating. From what I've heard, I think Halifax will be sending open and women's teams again, and most likely not a co-ed team. Though if they do decide to send one, it won't be near as strong as Spawn, or even the Beavers (assuming their top players remain with the non-coed teams). There's virtually no chance that a second men's or women's team will come out of Atlantic Canada, and very little chance that a co-ed team will make an appearance. I'm not sure who's next in line for the wildcards, but I imagine the home province isn't too far down on the list. So, those numbesr could easily be bumped in Ontario's favor.
That's really good news. Toronto A and B as well as Ottawa A are going to be virtual locks for 3 spots. Well maybe not Toronto B, but we only beat them once last season (that's assuming of course that Toronto B is Zen again which might not necessarily be the case, I can see Zen moving down to Toronto C given that according to the latest rumours Toronto is going to be fielding 6 teams for the co-ed division). The contention for bids 4 and 5 will be tight with us, Guelph (who may be weakened by players going to Toronto to play open/womens), and Hamilton, along with Ottawa B, and Toronto C-F. The good news is we will be fielding a stronger team this year. We gotta make sure to stay ahead of Guelph/Hamilton and Toronto C-F and be strong and disciplined enough to contend with Toronto A and B and Ottawa teams for a bid and decent seeding. Toronto's just a weird picture.......6 freaking co-ed teams so the top 3 teams will be strong. But with so many teams the talent pool is spread a lot thinner.
Ladies and Gents time to find the killer instinct and just put games and teams away.
While I don't feel we are "a lock" for number one, I don't think there's a team out there that we can't play with. Liquid has beaten Toronto A and B and Ottawa A and B in the past, and I intend to see it happen again. Let's wait and see how tryouts and TUF go before thinking about Regionals.
The news is up, and Ontario still has 5 spots in the Co-ed division. They have however, increased the the number of spots to 20 co-ed teams, with the first wildcard going to Ontario should a spot open up.

Sweet!
That's great news. Even better is that they have enough fields to expand the size of the divisions.
Yes-although I doubt they
Yes-although I doubt they would expand either coed or open.
Not so sure

maybe
I hope you're right but i'd have thought masters would get the nod (they've reduced the age this year)
Would they want to set a precedent for future years by expanding the biggest division?
Again hope you are right
Masters
I think there just might be enough old farts in Waterloo to put a masters team together... although there are a few who would never admit their age ;-)
3 ontario spots for
3 ontario spots for masters. 2 teams coming out of ottawa (finished 1/2 at nats last year)
I assume there'll be team in TO as they're hosting nats
It'd be a tough road
Masters
Wasn't suggesting we would be competitive ;-) Just suggesting we could field a team.
Masters with guys only, or gals too?
If we put our older gals on the team we'd not only be competitive, but we'd be pretty too.
Guys and Gals
It would need to be a dual-gender team to get the requisite numbers... but I think that the 'uglyness' of our guys would negate any positive gains from our women.

Don't underestimate Ottawa
Don't underestimate Ottawa B; many of their open division are going coed.
I think Ottawa A/B; Toronto A/B are a lock for the top 4
Have Some Faith
I personally feel we are going to be a lock for number 1. :)
Sorry, thought that was
Sorry, thought that was assumed
When I said top 4 I meant top 4 spots left to qualify
More Seriously
While I don't feel we are "a lock" for number one, I don't think there's a team out there that we can't play with. Liquid has beaten Toronto A and B and Ottawa A and B in the past, and I intend to see it happen again. Let's wait and see how tryouts and TUF go before thinking about Regionals.
Ya Totally!
Liquid is going to kick some serious arse this year !!!
